Hier matin, le 18 octobre 2008 à 9h15 du matin, mon neveu est né. La femme de mon frère a accouché de Malo. C’est un prénom breton. Alors j’ai fait quelques photos et une vidéo du bébé le jour de sa naissance.

Yesterday morning, on 18th october 2008 at 9.15am, my nephew is born. My brother’s wife gave bith to Malo. It’s a firstname from Brittany. I obviously have made some photos and a video of the baby on the day of his birth.

Alors, voilà ce qui s’est passé depuis la dernière fois. Ce week-end j’ai été manger chez Claire et Sam, on rentabilise le barbecue autant qu’on peut ! On a aussi joué à la Wii comme c’est devenu l’habitude avec Sandrine et Olivier. Et dimanche on est allé voir les baleines avec Mathilde et son pote Axel.
On a vu une maman baleine et ses deux petits qui se sont décidés à montrer leur tête juste avant le départ du bateau. On a eu de la chance ! On a aussi pu voir des dauphins, c‘était plutôt cool et le beau temps était de la partie. Vous pouvez voir le résultat sur mon picasa et sur youtube !
Sinon j’ai eu ma première journée de boulot hier chez Frontfoot ! La boîte est plutôt sympa, pour l’instant je travaille sur mon Mac avec un écran supplémentaire. Mes collègues sont sympas et l’environnement de travail me plaît bien ! J’ai déjà commencé à travailler sur un projet, ça me permet de voir un peu ce que je ferai dans un futur proche mais aussi de voir comment sont les applications… Le midi on a mangé Mexicain, c‘était bon ! Et je me suis rendu compte en parlant avec mes collègues dans la “foule” que ma compréhension de l’anglais nécessite encore pas mal d’amélioration, d’autant que je n’ai pas une super audition…
Enfin bref, j’aime bien mon nouveau taffe et je suis impatient d’attaquer les choses sérieuses, alors j’y retourne !
Whales watching and first day of work!

So what happened since last time I wrote an article here? Well not that much, but some interesting stuff though. This week-end I went to Sam and Claire’s flat for a barbecue, the barbecue was worth the investment. We also played Wii as usual with Olivier and Sandrine! And on sunday we went to whale watching with Mathilde and her friend Axel.
We saw a mother whale and her two babies, they decided to show their head just before the boat leaves… luckily. And we saw also some dolphins… it was fun, and the weather was great. The result of this sunday can be seen on my picasa, and on youtube!
Appart from that, I started to work yesterday for Frontfoot! The company seems to be cool, for now I’m working on my own Mac with an additional screen. My colleagues are cool and the working environment is nice! I’ve already started to work on a project, which permits me to see what I’ll be doing in the future and how the software is made… We’ve been to eat Mexican for lunch, it’s quite tasty! Speaking with my colleagues I realise I need to improve my understanding of english, specially in a crowd, my hearing (in general, not only for english) being a bit crappy.
Anyway I like my new work environment, and I can’t wait to work some more, so I got to stop here and get back to work!

Voici quelques news depuis le territoire Aussie ! J’ai trouvé un boulot et une maison ! J’ai emménagé hier, alors maintenant il y a un peu plus de place dans l’appart de Sam et Claire pour le bébé à venir :)
Désormais je suis à Marrickville, c’est au sud ouest de Sydney. La station de train de Tempe est à 10 minutes de la station centrale de Sydney. C’est très près de la ville. J’ai donc pris quelques photos de ma nouvelle maison. Je la partage avec James, sa femme Soosun et Julie. La maison est assez grande pour nous 4 et mes collocataires sont plutôt cools :)
J’ai aussi fait une vidéo si vous voulez voir un peu plus la maison et Oscar !
L’autre bonne nouvelle c’est que j’ai trouvé un boulot !! Je commence à travailler mercredi 15 pour FrontFoot. C’est une entreprise spécialisée dans le dévelopement web pour téléphones mobiles. Ils utilisent Ruby on Rails en back-end et cherchaient un dévelopeur spécialiste du front-end. Mais la bonne nouvelle c’est qu’il semblerait qu’il me veulent pour travailler sur le front-end ET le back-end. J’ai hâte de commencer, le travail à l’air vraiment intéressant et mes après-midi commencent à être un peu longs…
Mais ne vous inquiétez pas j’arrive encore à utiliser mon temps libre pour l’instant ! :)
Two good news !

Some news from aussie land ! I’ve found a job and I’ve found a new home ! I’ve moved into my new home yesterday, so now there is a little more room for the coming baby at Sam and Claire’s flat :)
Now I am in Marrickville, it’s the south west of Sydney. The Tempe train station is 10 minutes from the Central Station of Sydney. It’s very close to the city. So I’ve taken some photos of my new home. I’m sharing it with James, his wife Soosun and Julie. The home is big enough for us, and my flatmates seem to be cool :)
I’ve also made a video if you want to visit the house a little more and see Oscar !
And the other good news is that I’ve found a job !! I start working on wednesday 15th for FrontFoot. It’s a company specialised in web development for mobile phones. They use ruby on rails on the back-end and they were looking for a front-end developer. But it seems I’ll be working on both. I can’t wait to start working for them, the work seems very interesting and my afternoons are starting to be a bit long :P
But don’t worry I can handle all the free time I’ve got for now ! :)
Voyage vers Sydney, jonglage et recherche d'emploi

Salut tout le monde !
Ca fait un petit moment que j’ai pas écrit ici, alors je vais essayer de vous parler de ce qui s’est passé depuis la dernière fois :)
Comme vous le savez surement déjà, je suis à Sydney maintenant. J’ai pris l’avion le 8 septembre à 17h depuis Paris. J’ai voyagé avec Mathilde (qui est la soeur de la femme de mon frère), nous sommes arrivés à Hong-Kong le 9 septembre. Notre escale a duré 8 heures, nous en avons donc profité pour aller voir le Bouddha de Lantau.
Ensuite nous avons repris l’avion et sommes arrivés à Sydney le 10 septembre vers 10.15 (heure de Sydney). Nous avons passé la journée à visiter Sydney et nous avons consommé suffisamment de café pour tenir toute la journée… on a quand même perdu 14 heures en deux jours, mais le café nous a permis de tenir ! Cette nuit là j’ai dormis 14 heures…
Depuis que nous sommes arrivés nous avons passé l’essentiel de nos après-midi en tant que touristes ! Nous sommes allés à Manly Beach, nous avons visité différents lieux de Sydney comme Darling Harbour par exemple, nous avons fais quelques ballades pas très loin d’Artarmon sur le chemin de Two Creeks...
Maintenant je passe toutes mes matinées à la recherche d’un emploi, j’envoie mon CV à pas mal d’entreprises qui travaillent avec Ruby, Ruby on Rails ou qui développent des Services Vocaux Interactifs. Je suis content aujourd’hui car j’ai reçu une réponse de Holly Connects qui aura peut être du travail pour moi dans deux semaines. En attendant je recherche toujours du travail et en particulier auprès d’entreprises qui développent des SVI.
Sinon je passe mes après midi sur Sydney essentiellement. J’ai récemment fait deux vidéos de mes prouesses de jongleur au coeur de Sydney. Je vais bientôt m’acheter un bâton du diable enflammable pour faire une vidéo de Sydney by night. Mais pour le moment voici les vidéos que j’ai faites:

Travel to Sydney, juggling, looking for a job...

Hello there !
It’s been a long time since my last post here, so I’m gonna try to write a little about what I did since that time :)
Well as you may already know I’m in Sydney now, I’ve taken the plane on 8th September at 5pm from Paris. I traveled with Mathilde (she is the sister of my brother’s wife), we arrived in Hong-Kong on the 9th of September. Our break there lasted for 8 hours, so we took some time to visit the Buddha of Lantau.
Afterward we got our second plane and arrived in Sydney on 10th September at 10.15am (Sydney Time). We spent the day visiting Sydney and we took enough coffee to stay awake all the day… we have lost 14 hours in two days, but the coffee helped a lot! That night I slept 14 hours though…
Since we arrived we spent most of our afternoons as tourists! We went to Manly Beach, we visited various places in Sydney including Darling Harbour, we had a walk not far from Artarmon on the Two Creeks Track...
Now I’m spending all my mornings looking for a job, sending my resumes to various companies either working with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, or developping Interactive Voice Responses. I’m happy cause today I received an answer from Holly Connects which might have a position for me in two weeks. Until then I’m still looking for a job specially in IVR development.
Apart from that I spend my afternoons in Sydney mostly. I’ve recently made two videos juggling in Sydney, I’ll soon purchase a inflammable devilstick and make some nice movies by night. But for now here are my videos:

Week-end in Morbihan

Note: Morbihan is southern Britanny, where I am from but not where I live in Britanny.
So I spent the week-end in Morbihan, I got there friday after work. I finished earlier in order to spend the evening with my brother Davy and my parents. I don’t see Davy very often because I live in Rennes and he is in a center where they try to help him live is schyzophrenia better (it includes looking for a treatment and helping him become progressively more independent, that’s not easy at all…).
This week-end Davy was quite disturbed by his voices but there was some moments during which we could discuss. We also could chat (using Skype) with my other brother Samuel who lives in Sydney. They had not seen each other for a long time. Now I will see Davy only once more before I take my plane to Australia.
On saturday afternoon I went to Vannes (closest city from my parents town) while my parents were driving my brother back. I bought a birthday present for Kleph (aka Nico). Then I went shopping for myself as it’s almost the end of sales. And finally I went to Landevant where we had a party for Nico’s birthday.
The night was very cool, I don’t think I had ever been to a party with so many geeks before (myself included… I know what you think !). We had a lot of fun and I did a lot of photos and also some videos I’ll upload soon :)
Now I’m gonna have a shower and do nothing but watch a movie… Big Fish maybe (I know I watch a lot of Tim Burton movies since a few days).
Week-end dans le Morbihan

J’ai passé le week-end dans le morbihan, je suis rentré tôr vendredi après le boulot pour pouvoir passer la soirée avec mon frère Davy et mes parents. Je ne vois pas mon frère très souvent étant donné que je suis sur Rennes et qu’il est dans un centre où où on essaie de l’aider à mieux vivre sa schyzophrénie (cela inclus la recherche d’un traitement et essayer progressivement de le rendre plus autonome, mais cela n’a rien de simple…).
Ce week-end Davy était plutôt dérangé par ses voix, mais il y a tout de même eu quelques moments où nous avons pu discuter. Nous avons pu également avoir tous une conversation (sur Skype) avec mon autre frère Samuel qui est à Sydney, ça faisait longtemps que lui et Davy ne s’étaient pas vus. Désormais je ne le reverrai qu’une fois avant mon départ pour l’Australie.
Ensuite le samedi après-midi je suis allé sur Vannes alors que mes parents ramenaient Davy. J’ai été acheter un cadeau d’anniversaire pour kleph (aka Nico). Ensuite j’ai fait un peu de shopping pour profiter un peu des soldes quand même. Et je suis finalement allé à Landévant où on fêtait l’anniversaire de Nico.
La soirée c’est super bien passée, je crois que j’avais jamais été dans une soirée avec autant de geeks (moi inclus… ouais je sais). On s’est bien marrés et j’ai fait pas mal de photos et aussi quelques vidéos que je rendrai dispo sous peu :)
Maintenant je crois que je vais me doucher et comater devant un film, genre Big Fish (je sais je regarde pas mal de Tim Burton en ce moment) !

Comment j'ai "perdu" 5 euros au Poker !

Hier soir (jeudi, vu qu’il est une heure du mat’ c’est sans doute avant hier soir) je suis allé chez Yo pour faire une chtite partie de Poker.
J’arrive. En fait personne n’avait encore mangé et comme je n’avais que grignoté, je me suis jeté ! C’est ca qu’est bien chez Yo c’est que t’apprends des nouvelles recettes et tu te régale :) J’ai oublié le nom de ce qu’on a mangé mais c’est du porc dans une sauce à la moutarde et enveloppé dans des feuilles de chou, c’est super bon, c’est pas sec, les légumes qu’on cuit avec s’imprègnent de la sauce… trooop bon.
Enfin bref ensuite on a commencé à jouer au Poker (no limit texas hold’em), tout le monde a commencé avec 5 euros en jetons (mais il y avait possibilité de recav, notamment pour Mitch ! haha)… j’enchaine main de merde sur main de merde, limite que des 7 2 dépareillés… Donc je me couche je perds très peu d’argent et les gens commencent à se demander si je vais jouer un jour…
Au bout d’un moment je commence à toucher une main ou deux, et je me suis dit qu’il faut jouer un peu plus large. Je réussi comme ça à me faire deux ou trois pots qui me font rapidement monter à 12 euros de jetons.. je prends confiance, un peu trop peut être. Après quelques tours je touche un très bonne main (ou pas): Roi Dame de Pique. Je fais une forte relance avant le flop pour me retrouver avec le moins de monde possible à suivre, on se retrouve à deux: le chip leader et moi (qui devait pas être loin de la deuxième place en chips à ce moment là).
Je flop un Dame, mais aucun Pique. Là je joue très mal, je réfléchis 2 secondes et je dis Tapis. J’entends quelques seconds plus tard: “suivi”. Il y a trois mains qui peuvent me battre: une Paire de Dames (ce qui ferait un brelan), une Paire de Rois et As Roi. La moins improbable étant As Roi… et en effet c’est ce qu’il avait, j’ai tout perdu en un coup et parce que j’ai trè mal jouer après le flop.
Depuis je me demande ce que j’aurais dû faire. Aurais-je dû “check” pour voir ce qu’il misait ? Ou simplement faire une grosse mise pour voir s’il suivait ? De toute façon il aurait pu me piéger et j’aurais eu du mal à repérer l’As étant donné que c’est moi qui ai fait la relance avant le flop… enfin bref si vous avez une opinion, je suis preneur ! :)

How I "lost" 5 euros playing Poker !

Yesterday night (on thursday, as it’s 1am right now it should be the day before yesterday) I went to play Poker at Yo’s house.
When I arrived no one had eaten yet and as I had only nibbled some crisps I jumped at the chance ! That’s what I like when you’re at Yo’s house, you always discover new recipes and you enjoy an excellent meal ! :) I forgot the name of what we’ve eaten but it was pork cooked in a mustard based sauce and envelopped in cabbage leaves, that’s delicious, vegetables get all the taste from the sauce it’s greaat !
Well. Afterward we start playing a cash game of poker (no limit texas hold’em), everyone started with 5 euros of chips (but you could buy some more when you lost them if you needed… like Mitch ! haha)… I get crappy hand after crappy hand, like 7 and 2 of different color… So I fold almost everytime but I don’t loose much money (only the blinds) but people start to wonder if I intend to play some hands :P
After a while I start to get some hands, I told myself to play moreof them. I succeed in two or three good hands to reach 12 euros of chips… becoming more confident, maybe too much. After a few turns I get a good hand (or not): King + Queen of spade. I raise a high amount before the flop in order to get as few people on the flop as possible. It’s a success as we are only two to check the flop: the chip leader and me (at this state of the game I may be second in chips).
I get a Queen in the flop but no Spade. That’s where I don’t play as good as I may have… I hesitate two or three seconds and say “All in”. A few seconds later I hear: “Called”. Three hands can beat mine: A pair of queens (which would give him three of a kind), A pair of kings, and Ace and Queen. The most likely he could have is Ace and Queen… and that’s what he got, I lost everything in one hand because I played badly after the flop (no I didnt get a lucky King).
Since I’m asking myself, what should have I done ? “Check” to see what he bets ? Bet a lot to see if he calls or raises ? Anyway I thing he could have trapped me easily and I would have still lost… so if you have any good advice to give me I take it ! :)

Cinéma et pendaison de crémaillère

Ce week-end a été plutôt chargé.
Vendredi soir je suis allé voir au cinéma Valse avec Bachir de Air Forman. C’est un film d’animation très intéressant sur le massacre des libanais par les Phalangistes à Sabra et Shatila. Je l’ai trouvé plutôt bien même si ce n’est pas le genre de film qui rend tout joyeux à la sortie du cinéma, notamment suite aux images réelles des suites du massacre (femmes en pleurs, cadavres…) à la fin du film… malgré tout je recommande vivement ce film à ceux qui veulent en savoir un peu plus sur ce qui a pu se passer en Israë.
Suite au film on s’est retrouvés à la terrasse d’un bar à Rennes, puis on a fait un petit Poker chez Sten… ou j’ai lamentablement perdu très vite ! :)
Ensuite Samedi j’étais invité à la pendaison de Crémaillère de Lionel (Yo !). Je n’étais pas au courant mais c’est également son anniversaire lundi ! Bon Anniv Yo ! :)
On s’est bien amusés, je suis arrivé vers 12h30, pensant ne pas être premier pour une fois… manque de bol si j’étais comme d’habitude le premier. On en a profité pour préparer à manger. Au menu: gratin de légumes, tartiflettes, taboulé fait maison (je suis devenu expert en taboulé !), brochettes végétariennes, brochettes au poulet et aux épices… On a passé pas mal de temps a préparer le tout et au final on fini par manger vers 16h. Le tout étant très bien arrosé je n’étais pas en état de conduire pour retourner sur Rennes le soir.
J’ai donc prolongé et participé à la soirée qui s’en suivait ! Vous pourrez voir pas mal de photos de cette journée vraiment sympa sur mon Picasa
Sinon aujourd’hui je me suis reposé essentiellement et je vais regarder pour la première fois en VO le dernier Tim Burton: Sweeney Todd

Cinema and house warming

This week-end has been full of events !
Friday night I’ve been to the cinema watching Waltz with Bachir by Air Forman. It’s a very interesting movie about the genocides by Phalangists which happened in Sabra and Shatila Liban. The movie was really good even if that’s not the type of movie which will cheer you up… at the end you see real images from the massacre (women screaming/crying, dead people/children…). But apart from that I really recommend the movie if you want to know more about what happened in Israel.
After that we went to a Bar in Rennes, and we got to Sten’s flat playing Poker… I lost really fast, how pityful ! :)
On Saturday I was invited to a house warming for Lionel (aka Yo). I wasn’t aware of that before, but his birthday is also on monday. Happy Birthday Yo ! :)
We had quite some fun, I arrived at 12.30am, thinking I would not be first for once… in fact I arrived first. So we decided it was time to do the cooking. We prepared: vegetables gratin, “tartiflette”, home made tabbouleh (I’m a tabbouleh expert now !), vegetables brochettes, spicy chicken brochettes… we spent some time preparing all that so we started to eat at 4pm. As there was a lot of drinking as well I was not able to drive back to Rennes that night.
I consequently stayed longer there and spent the night with erveryone. There are some photos of this great day on my Picasa
Today I mostly rested and now I’m gonna watch in english the latest Tim Burton movie: Sweeney Todd
That’s it, the week-end was quite long ! :)
